First Tee of Western NY on why QOLF has been incorporated into their program

VALUE OF QOLF AS AN EDUCATIONAL COMPONENT

Since being introduced to QOLF at the 2006 PGA Merchandise Show in Orlando, I have spent considerable time working this game into my instructional curriculum. What I have found is that QOLF provides a unique environment for learning golf, while offering juniors a fun tool that they can play, indoors or outdoors, with friends and family.

QOLF is first and foremost a game that is fun. The benefit of QOLF is that it provides an opportunity for experiential learning in a golf-like game that can be played anywhere! The game itself is almost an offshoot of croquet, but is fully golf with all of the elements of targets, aim, club selection, and ball control.

Simply put … Instructors want to teach skills, while kids want to play games. As a golf instructor, I strive to accomplish the following with my students:

• To have fun playing a sport that will last a lifetime

• To be able to interact successfully with people of all ages

• To understand the value of etiquette, rules and respecting each other and our environment

• To be able to accept new challenges even if they are not easy

• To have the ability to successfully deal with situations in and outside of their control

• To identify and manage risk/reward.

What I have found is that when playing QOLF, participants experience the game of golf and all that goes with it. This is the true benefit of QOLF and I am excited to make this game a significant part of my instructional curriculum.
